Last Thursday, we were delighted to host a sustainability workshop for students at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, sponsored by Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, and Undershaw School, sponsored by COINS Foundation, to mark COP27 Youth Day.

It was wonderful to be joined by Ledley King, Tottenham Hotspur FC legend – having captained the Spurs team and played for England. Ledley, now a Spurs Ambassador, had represented the club at COP26 in Glasgow last year.

Introduced by Spurs Executive Director, Donna-Maria Cullen, the workshop enabled students to explore two areas.

First, the students were given the opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of health, environment and the economy by using Bioregional’s One Planet Living framework to create an action plan for schools. The students’ ideas were mapped using the OnePlanet platform.

Second, they were able to explore career aspirations with experts and people working in sustainability invited by OnePlanet, including Nick Parker, Paul Milton, Nicola Peel, Dan Epstein, Rafe Bertram, Mahsa Khaneghah, Lara Sampson, Ron Argent, Larry Sullivan, James Shearman, Cllr Donna Stimson, Dr Gaurav Sikka and Niamh James.

The day was filled with interesting and inspiring discussions between the students and adults. Without a doubt, everyone got a lot from the event.

Let’s hope for a good result with the COP27 negotiations!
