OnePlanet and Sussex Nature Partnership showcase innovative work on LNRSs
Julie Middleton(experienced Consultant at Sussex Nature Partnership) and Tash Barnes (Consultant at OnePlanet)recently joined the South East Nature Partnershipto present their innovative work on aLocal Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS)for East and West Sussex. Many other Responsible Authorities (who too must deliver an LNRS for their areas) attended Julie and Tash’ssession to learn about the process and question how the methodology might helpthem deliver their LNRS.

LNRS Q&A
Following the presentation, attendees asked Julie and Tash some questions: there was a lively discussion! We’ve drawn out some of them below:
Q:
Are OAIs (Outcomes, Actions & Indicators) inputted into Action plans manually or using machine learning or AI? (Local Nature Partnership Manager)
A:
Currently this is done manually, with a process of deliberate selection so that only useful components of existing strategies are input into OnePlanet. Julie identified these elements of relevant strategies and found that this process is useful for partnership engagement.
On AI… We are already looking to use Machine Learning as a useful tool in the future, however, there is a real value in understanding the strategies inside-out in terms of the relationships between OAIs, which you can only really get from manual input. Also, manual input isn’t as slow of a process as you might expect!
Q:
Can users have access to already mapped national strategies and other relevant already mapped local strategies e.g. High Weald AONB, the Environment Improvement Plan? (Council)
A:
Yes, any publicly available strategy which is already available in OnePlanet can be made available to you in your account and to the public to explore without needing to login. Using the platform in this way helps to minimise duplications of work and save time!
Q:
Is there a way to generate monitoring reports off the back of this work? (Council)
A:
Yes, you can instantly generate reports and filter in or out as much information into these as you like. For example, a report can be generated to include all stakeholder updatesaround a specific Shared Indicator or Shared Outcome, over a specified period of time, so reports can be tailored for their audience!
Q:
There is a license fee/ ongoing cost associated with use of OnePlanetisn’t there? (South Downs National Park Authority)
A:
Yes, a license to use the technologyand support from the Customer Success team are included in a subscription to OnePlanet. There is always a free version that anyone has access to, however this hasa limited number of OAIs which would not be sufficient for a piece of work as large as the LNRS.
Q:
Can OnePlanet support implementation and management for ongoing projects?(Council)
A:
Yes, OnePlanet includes project management capacity and enables different organisations to share information on progress on activity around Shared Outcomes. So the platform allows you to track progress and collaborate.
