Following on from last week’s blog about the joys of an in-person workshop where I briefly introduced our collaboration with the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA), I’ve written this short blog as a follow-up to tell you more.
We’re now 9 months into this Innovate UK funded project, and we’re delivering efficiently on our key aims of accelerating net zero and enabling nature recovery across the park. With such a wide scope of 14 Local Authorities (including key stakeholders within these areas), we split the area into 3 cohorts – East Sussex, West Sussex, and Hampshire. We started with East Sussex and upon completion of mapping that cohort, we’ve now mapped a large chunk of West Sussex too.
As I check the ‘SDNP ecosystem’ workspace today, there are now 79 separate plans mapped onto the system all connected across overarching aims, or in OnePlanet language, Shared Outcomes. Every day I log on and there are more plans being mapped on that workspace, it’s a joy to see so much buzz around the project – a buzz that’s ever-growing. Through mapping so many plans and exploring the connections, we’ve been able to uncover some interesting insights as to how the different local authorities are addressing SDNP’s Shared Outcomes.
We still have 9 months to go of this project, continuing to work closely with our partners at SDNP. Every week our meetings together challenge us in all the best ways to deliver this project to a standard we all try to uphold.
If you’re interested in exploring some of the plans we have in this workspace, some of our users have published their plans on our website to be open to the public.
