Young Leaders

Gain new skills and join a network for change

What is a Young Leader?

In our eyes, a Young Leader is anyone under the age of 30 who wants to make a difference!

In the run up to COP28, OnePlanet.com supported the first phase of Young Leaders to system-map local government climate action strategies into a publicly accessible integrated database. This was the first attempt of its kind to create an interactive and comprehensive view of how climate action is being taken up and down the UK. Using the OnePlanet platform allowed the Young Leaders to prepare and present a set of recommendations for joined-up action to MPs, Council CEOs and business leaders and create a searchable database of UK local government climate action – this was just the beginning!

The mapping is an ongoing process and we love to keep in touch! Members of the last cohort have joined OnePlanet in giving talks and presenting their work at conferences. We even had an event at the House of Commons!

Sounds like something you’d be interested in? This is a great opportunity for young professionals and students to:

  • Collaborate, contribute and be recognised for taking part in a transformative initiative.
  • Learn a new technology, and way of thinking.
  • Develop and hone your researching, data analysis, and presenting skills
  • Get access to a tool that can increase your impact at work.
  • Be part of a network for change.

All participants will be credited on the website and receive a certificate of participation.

In the run-up to COP28 we mapped out and connected together nearly 50 UK Local Government climate strategies, creating an interactive database of action. This has provided valuable insight that has been developed into a ‘Young Leaders’ Manifesto and we want to build on this further. So we are continuing the initiative to:

  • Ensure that we have broader geographic spread of regions,
  • Increase the number of best practice Actions and case studies
  • Continue to give Young Leaders to learn about the OnePlanet technology and solution.
